Executive Research Tour 2009

The Court of the Future Network ran the third in a series of executive research tours, this time in Melbourne from 23-26 March 2009.

Previous tours have been to Paris and courts in the north of France in 2002, and European and international courts in Strasbourg, Luxembourg and The Hague in 2008.

The tours are designed for judicial officers, court executives and staff, architects and engineers, academics and others with an interest in justice environments. The numbers are limited to permit plenty of interaction. Participants are encouraged to bring along their own ideas, designs and images.

Distinguished participants included Thomas Schuster, project manager for the new permanent facilities of the International Criminal Court, Frank Greene, a top New York court architect,  and Linda Mulcahy, a law professor specialising in the history of court architecture in Britain.

This exective research tour examined key issues facing courts today, including security, new court technologies, indigenous and neighbourhood justice models, and new types of symbolism.
